2026 North Texas GCSA Turfgrass Scholarship

Information for Applicants 
The North Texas Golf Course Superintendents Association (NTGCSA) Turfgrass Scholarship offers educational aid to a student currently attending or enrolled in an accredited university and pursuing a degree in Turfgrass Management (or a related field) with the intentions of becoming a golf course superintendent. Awards are sponsored by AmeriTurf and funded through partnership with the NTGCSA. Up to $2,500.00/scholarship will be awarded. Applications will be reviewed by an independent committee consisting of the NTGCSA Scholarship Committee. All decisions of the committee are final. Scholarship recipients will be recognized at our Annual Awards banquet in January and award checks will be made payable to the recipients following the banquet. 

Eligibility 
(1)    The student must be currently working (or have made an agreement to work at) a golf course located within the North Texas Chapter of the Golf Course Superintendent's Association. The current supervisor of the student must be a member in good standing with the NTGCSA. The scheduled time frame of work must be within the dates of January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026. The student does not need to work this entire time, but must complete a tenure of work, which will be reviewed by the committee. 
(2)    The student must be enrolled full-time at an accredited institution of higher learning or, in the case of high school seniors, must be accepted at such an institution for the next academic year. 

Criteria for Selection 
Applicants will be evaluated based on the following: 
(1)    Academic achievement, extracurricular and community involvement, leadership and outside employment. 
(2)    One essay: Why do you believe you should be selected to receive this scholarship? (Minimum of 250 words)

Financial need is not a factor in the selection. 

How to Apply 
Students must complete and submit the online application and supply the following: 
(1)    OFFICIAL transcripts from either high school or colleges attended.
(2)    TWO letters of recommendation: one from academic institution and one personal. Recommendation letters can be uploaded here or emailed directly from recommenders to [email protected].

The deadline to complete this form and upload/or submit your transcript and recommendation letters is September 25, 2026.
